Our Work

Peer to Peer Program

The City of Tonawanda Coalition is working to bring a peer to peer substance abuse prevention program into the City of Tonawanda School District. They have researched best practices for this type of program and have identified a nationally run, Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs (ATOD) program created by an organization in California, Community Matters. The coalition was recently awarded $45,000 from the Tower Foundation to support this work over the next 2 years. In addition to the peer to peer program, the coalition is looking at ways to better educate and inform the community of substance abuse issues and the need for programing through information sessions for parents and printed resource guides for the community.
