The Springville Regional Service Coalition and Rural Niagara Community Coalition have partnered with the Western New York Prevention Resource Center (WNY PRC) to provide the coalitions with resources, training, and technical assistance related to substance abuse prevention. With WNY PRC’s assistance, the coalitions have implemented the Prevention Needs Assessment Survey (aka Bach Harrison Surveys) in the Springville and Newfane School Districts to learn about substance abuse, mental health, and environmental concerns amongst youth. In addition to collecting data from youth, the coalitions will be working towards collecting community level data through a community assessment and focus groups. All of which will support the development of both in-school and community based programs to address the needs of youth and their communities in both rural Erie and Niagara counties.
The Prevention Needs Assessment Surveys (aka Bach Harrison Surveys) have been funded through the Western Regional Addiction Resource Collaborative and Western New York Prevention Resource Center.
